So, I guess this is where I introduce myself to you – hi! I’m Anna and I’m 25 years old. I absolutely love crocheting, colouring in, playing the clarinet and piano and have a passion for helping others as well as being involved in Church life! I also have a tendency to overuse exclamation marks, comma-splice (sorry to my A Level English teachers), ramble pointlessly and buy stationary that I don’t actually need.
Over the past few years I have been on a journey that hasn’t been the easiest – but I am now using this journey to try and accept myself for who I am, and to come to terms with the fact that this is who I was created to be! I’ve spent time sectioned in hospital and had to come to terms with a body that doesn’t want to work properly and leaves me in pain pretty much all the time. I’ve gone from being a marathon runner to someone who can barely leave the house. It’s been a huge adjustment and writing has been one of the main outlets I’ve found.
In February 2022 I self-published my first collection of poetry called ‘Mending the Broken’ in a bid to try and, first, raise awareness about both mental and physical health issues and, second, to try and help people feel less alone on their journeys. So this blog will probably be filled with a lot of wordy rambles, plenty of poetry, a dash of reality but also, hopefully, some hope too. And if it helps just one other person then it’s done what I wanted it to do!
All my love,
Anna x
